AS WORLDCOM AND SPRINT continue to weigh their options following the Justice Department’s suit filed Tuesday to block the merger on antitrust grounds, a disconnect seems to be surfacing between the two long-distance firms. While WorldCom officials appear ready to walk away from the deal, Sprint executives are still publicly touting the merger’s benefits and looking for ways to salvage it.
